The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship 2025
The Foundation seeks outstanding doctoral students who excel academically, show intellectual curiosity, and are committed to making a positive impact on society. While its work focuses on the Humanities and Social Sciences, it also embraces a broad understanding of interdisciplinary connections.
The scholarship provides funding, mentorship, and access to an extraordinary network of leaders, who will help you transform ideas into impactful action.
As a Scholar you will receive:
- Generous Financial Support of up to $50,000 annually for three years, to cover tuition and reasonable living expenses.
- Additional $20,000 annually for three years to support research, networking, and travel.
- Lifelong membership in a vibrant community of like-minded individuals, including Mentors and Fellows, with ongoing access to the Foundation’s alumni network.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be either a Canadian studying at a Canadian or International university or be an international student studying at a Canadian university
- Be in the final stages of a Master’s program (completion by summer 2025), or be in the first or second year of a doctoral program.
- Your research must be broadly related to the humanities, social sciences, or human sciences. Moreover, it needs to be directly relevant to the future of Canada.
Your research must address critical issues facing Canada and the world. It also needs to relate to one of the following themes:
- Human Rights and Dignity
- Responsible Citizenship
- Canada and the World
- People and their Natural Environment
