Are you seeking a unique opportunity to contribute to the body of knowledge on peacebuilding, violence prevention, and crisis recovery? The Peace and Recovery Initiative, an Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) initiative supported by UK International Development, has officially opened its eighth competitive funding round. Apply and push the boundaries of research in these critical areas and aim to create real-world policy impact.

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), supported by UK International Development, has launched its eighth competitive funding round through the Peace and Recovery Initiative. Researchers and implementing partners can now submit proposals that tackle critical issues such as conflict, post-conflict recovery, crime, and violence prevention in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The initiative focuses on social and political violence, including:

  • International and civil wars
  • State-supported violence, repression, and police brutality
  • Electoral violence
  • Riots, protests, strikes, and other forms of collective action
  • Intergroup violence (ethnic, sectarian, etc.)
  • Terrorism and violent extremism
  • Recovery from crises, including natural disasters and conflict

There are several types of proposals accepted, each with specific funding limits and requirements:

  • Pilot Studies: Up to $75,000
  • Full Studies: Up to $500,000
  • Infrastructure & Public Goods Creation Projects: Up to $250,000
  • Exploratory Grants: Up to $10,000
  • Evidence & Policy Outreach Support: Up to $25,000

Eligibility

This opportunity invites researchers and organizations to work on high-impact solutions in peace and recovery. Each project must include at least one researcher affiliated with a university, such as a PhD candidate, assistant professor, or professor, who holds or is actively pursuing a PhD in a relevant field. Furthermore, the team must demonstrate experience conducting field research and applying impact evaluation methods in sectors relevant to the Peace & Recovery Initiative.

If your project involves fieldwork, partner with a research management organization experienced in conducting fieldwork in the proposed locations. IPA Country Offices or other approved organizations can offer this support. Moreover, projects in countries where IPA is present are expected to use local IPA offices for implementation.
