Eligibility: All early- to mid-stage medical device, diagnostic, or digital health companies are encouraged to apply. Series B and later companies will be considered for the Showcase track. Companies that have not yet closed a series B will be considered for the Accelerator.
MedTech Innovator 2019
MedTech Innovator is the medical technology industry’s nonprofit global competition and accelerator for innovative medical device, digital health and diagnostic companies.
The mission is to improve the lives of patients by accelerating the growth of companies that are transforming the healthcare system.
MedTech Innovator is the largest platform of its kind, providing participants with broad exposure to the leading players in the medtech industry.
Accelerator and competition
In 2019, MedTech Innovator and its partners will give out more than $500,000 in cash prizes, scholarships, and in-kind awards.
The competition includes several rounds where companies gain increasing amounts of exposure to industry leaders through online application reviews, in-person pitch sessions, and audience competitions at three conferences.
Program benefits
- MedTech Innovator Pitch
The highest scoring companies from the online application review are invited to participate in regional pitch events, awarding the opportunity to present to a variety of industry-leading judges and key opinion leaders.
Historically, participation has resulted in financial investment, recruitment of board advisors, and the establishment of research partnerships for startups.
All companies invited to pitch will be provided with review feedback summaries based on their online application and in-person pitch.
- MedTech Innovator Showcase
50 companies will be selected to participate in the MedTech Innovator Showcase. These companies will receive one complimentary registration to the WSGR Medical Device Conference in San Francisco, as well as one full-access registration to The MedTech Conference, powered by AdvaMed.
At the MedTech Conference, the companies will participate in the MedTech Innovator Showcase, an on-stage interactive program on the main exhibit floor. The showcase highlights the most innovative companies in sector-based sessions, moderated by leading corporate executives and investors.
Additionally, MedTech Innovator Showcase companies will receive a dedicated space for one-on-one meetings over the three-day conference, as well as enhanced profiles in both the conference partnering system and published booklet distributed at The MedTech Conference in 2019. They are also eligible to compete for the $10K competition for Best Video.
- MedTech Innovator Accelerator
20 companies will receive a place in the MedTech Innovator Accelerator, a four-month virtual program. The Accelerator commences with the MedTech Innovator Summit in San Francisco on June 19-21 and concludes September 23-25, 2019 at The MedTech Conference in Boston.
Opportunities include networking, workshops, and pitching to investors, manufacturers, providers. Accelerator companies have an unprecedented opportunity to receive in-depth, customized mentorship from senior leaders in the medtech industry.
All 20 Accelerator companies will receive Showcase company benefits, in addition to the unprecedented opportunity to receive in-depth, customized mentorship from senior leaders in the medtech industry and the eligibility to compete for the Grand Prize and other cash prizes.
