Global Scholars Symposium 2018
Founded in 2008 by Gates scholars at the University of Cambridge, GSS expanded to include scholars from 51 countries across 9 prestigious scholarship schemes in the UK.
The Global Scholars Symposium (GSS) invites international thought leaders to engage with 150+ postgraduate scholar representatives in a four-day dialogue on pressing global issues.
Since 2017, the Global Scholars Symposium has broadened the audience and opened the invitation to all graduate students.
GSS hopes that this stimulating programme of talks, workshops and networking activities will serve as a stepping stone for such reflections to flourish across institutions, scholarships and disciplines.
What makes GSS unique
- Entirely Student Run: Since their founding in 2008, all aspects of the Global Scholars Symposium have been run by our highly engaged community of scholars.
- Cross-disciplinary Approach: GSS scholars and leaders are chosen from a wide array of backgrounds, bringing impactful ideas to addressing shared global challenges.
- Privilege to Responsibility: Many GSS scholars are recipients of full scholarships to complete their studies. Recognising the responsibility that comes with the privilege of education, we come together at the GSS to identify meaningful ways of giving back to society.
