Eligibility: All undergraduate and graduate students, aged 18 – 35, from all fields (e.g., design, computer science, business economics, humanities, social sciences) are welcome to apply. You must be enrolled at a university at some point during the calendar year. GESS’s enrollment policy also applies to graduate applicants, including MBA and PhD students.

Global Entrepreneurship Summer School 2018
The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School is a unique education program for young change agents. GESS looking for top-notch students from all over the world to develop innovative solutions around the topic ‘Consumption’.
Global Entrepreneurship Summer School is combining education, entrepreneurship and a global network to foster sustainable development.
In the spirit of promoting “billion-dollar projects to foster societal change”, GESS works on the UN Sustainable Development Goals aiming to empower students to become young responsible leaders who create positive change in our society.
Why apply?
At GESS, you will work in international and interdisciplinary teams on region-specific problems to develop your own idea that presents both a sustainable impact on society and a self-sustaining, profitable business model.
Throughout GESS, your team will be partnered with a coach who will provide you with feedback and assistance on any technical questions, like how to test your idea with the community on-site. A series of interactive input sessions by renowned entrepreneurs will provide you with the complementary knowledge.
At the end of the course, you and your team will pitch your idea to a wide public audience – and you should definitely not miss the celebration afterwards!
Who is the program for?
GESS is a 7-day program supporting entrepreneurially-minded students who are strongly committed to improving our society.
The core values lead GESS to seek out students who are committed to peace and are taking responsibility for improving our global society, regardless of their gender, race, religion or nationality.
GESS will take place on three different dates, depending on the location:
- Mexico City: 24.08. – 30.08.2018
- South Africa: 09.09.-15.09.2018
- Shanghai: 12.09.-18.09.2018
- Munich: 20.09.-26.09.2018
Application process
This year, 140 motivated students from around the world will be selected to attend the GESS program either in Munich, Mexico City, Shanghai or Cape Town depending on the location chosen in the application.
Due to the high number of applications received every year, all applications will go through a very strict – but fair – selection process.
We encourage you to focus on demonstrating the following qualities in your application:
- You think and act entrepreneurially
- You are deeply motivated to find answers to the most challenging problems in our global society
- You have strong proficiency in English
- Ideally, you are engaged in student initiatives or community efforts
- You are committed to peace and to acting in a responsible manner
- You are a strong team player, open-minded and interested in working in international and interdisciplinary teams
