DayOne Startup Accelerator 2019

DayOne, the Swiss innovation hub for precision medicine and digital health managed by BaselArea.swiss, launches its second acceleration run to support ventures targeting the improvement of the well-being and health of children and young people.

The accelerator is seeking brilliant ventures, healthcare innovators, startups as well as intrapreneurs that combine digital technologies, healthcare expertise and entrepreneurial spirit. Companies from low and middle-income countries are also welcome.

Selected projects will receive up to 50,000 CHF in non-dilutive funding, access to one of the leading healthcare innovation ecosystems, tailored coaching, customer contact and collaborative lab space in Basel, Switzerland.

The accelerator program in detail

The acceleration program consists of two phases:

1. Initial phase – presentation at DayOne conference

The initial phase offers a chance to develop your idea and make connections with the Basel Area ecosystem.

Get ready to pitch with two preparation webinars with the DayOne accelerator team and then connect with 400 stakeholders at the DayOne conference on September 9th 2019 in Basel, Switzerland.

2. The second phase – six-month acceleration program in Basel

Four ventures selected for the second phase will receive up to 50,000 CHF in non-dilutive funding, guided access to patients, experts, healthcare practitioners and other stakeholders in the local ecosystem, tailored coaching, a chance to test their idea with real customers and free access to collaborative lab space.

Selection process

Ventures will be selected based on their ability to make an impact on problems affecting children and young people and which strive to:

• go beyond research and create viable healthcare products and services that make appropriate use of digital technologies (Mobile Apps, AI, Blockchain etc.)
• lower healthcare costs and be scalable, therefore making their solution suitable for all markets including low and middle income countries
• embrace a human centric approach and show an understanding of diversity in team formation.

DayOne is looking for ventures that solve problems across a broad range of areas including diagnosis, treatments and prevention as well as patient and carer communication and other innovations which support healthcare workers.
