UN Climate Change Conference 2022

This November, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt will host the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) to build on previous successes and pave the way for future ambition to tackle the global challenge of climate change effectively.

Join the Climate Tracker Journalism Fellowship and connect with reporters from around the world

Would you like to work on collaborative stories you can publish in your national media?

Would you benefit from learning from some of the best climate reporters in the world?

If yes, apply to get the Climate Tracker Journalism Fellowship and grab your chance to report from the UN Climate Change Conference!

Report in person from Egypt or participate virtually

There are two ways you can join the fellowship to get training and cover the critical issues for your country and region throughout the negotiations.

You could be with the team in Egypt or opt to be part of the virtual team. Either way, you’ll be receiving training from climate reporters with years of experience telling the COP stories!

Fully-funded chance to report from Egypt

The fellowship will select ten journalists to join the team working on publishing stories in their local media as well as through Climate Tracker.

As an in-person delegate, the fellowship will cover the total cost of your travel, accommodation, and stipend and give you one month of pre-COP27 online training.

Your commitments as an in-person fellow

Once selected, we will get the ball rolling quickly! Here’s a taste of what you’ll be jumping straight into:

  • Publishing pre-COP27, during COP27, and after the negotiations have ended
  • Participating in all training sessions on the climate negotiations
  • Providing updates and relevant information on the proceedings to the global team of 12 online reporters also covering COP27

Not only is this an excellent opportunity to build your network worldwide and engage with journalists beyond your country/region, but it’s also a fantastic chance to gain hands-on experience at the world’s most significant climate negotiation session.
