Are you a young journalist passionate about fighting corruption?
Transparency International is looking for you to cover the IACC 2024 and investigate social issues related to transparency, integrity, and exposing corruption.
Scholarships are available for young/early professionals in digital, print, social, photo, or video journalism.
This year IACC is meeting under the theme Confronting Global Threats: Standing Up for Integrity in Vilnius, Lithuania from 18 to 21 June 2024.
This event is bringing together government, civil society as well as private sector to tackle challenges posed by corruption.
As a Young Journalist, you will have a chance to follow discussions, interview leaders and activists, and report your findings to the IACC blog and other media outlets.
Eligibility criteria to become a Young Journalist
If you would like to join IACC 2024 as a Young Journalist, you must meet the following criteria for applicants:
- be under 35 years of age on June 21, 2024
- be fluent in English
- work as a journalist reporting on social issues
- be skilled in one of the following areas: Digital/print journalism, Broadcast journalism, Video making, Photojournalism, Social media (specifically TikTok and Reels)
Moreover, you should be passionate about fighting corruption and willing to learn more about Transparency International, the IACC, and the issues they work on.
Responsibilities of the Young Journalists
Once you join the ranks of Young Journalists you will need to familiarize yourself with the IACC 2024 programme. Learn how Transparency International works and its global strategy against corruption for 2021-2030.
The day before the conference (18 June) you will have to attend a virtual prep and introductory meeting. During which you will meet the coordinating staff and fellow YJs, and discuss your roles and responsibilities.
You are also strongly encouraged to provide input and promote IACC channels, including Twitter, Facebook, and Vimeo. You are also invited to write blog posts on the IACC blog and engage with other IACC initiatives.
