Antler Startup Generator Amsterdam 2019
Antler is a startup generator and early-stage VC that turns the world’s top talent into great founders of great companies. It transforms the world’s most brilliant and determined people into tech startup founders.
For the first two months, you will be given an individual grant. Creating a new company requires a great idea and the resources to bring it to fruition.
A startup generator provides the right setting and context – through financial support, advice and access to the Global Advisor Network – that allows an individual or group of people to take a business idea and turn it into a reality.

Antler is a global startup generator backed by exceptional entrepreneurs and industry experts such as Andreas Ehn (first CTO Spotify), Dominic Barton (former CEO McKinsey) and Marie Weijler, Forbes 30 under 30 2019 honoree in the Finance category.
Who should apply?
Do you have a strong tech and product background? Have you launched products on a broad scale in the past or have proven business and growth skills with a minimum of 7-8 years of work experience?
Antler is looking for exceptionally talented individuals with the aspiration to become a great founder of a fast-growing startup.
An ideal candidate should have:
- Problem-solving skills: Those who have a unique and very creative way to approach the problems they see around them.
- Drive: People who will run to the ends of the world to achieve their goals. Your resilience and ability to fail, learn and bounce back is a key determinant of success.
- A clear spike: Individuals with a clear spike or deep expertise in their fields of work, be it in research or in a specific industry.
Apply as an individual, not a team, and you will be assessed based on your individual skills. You may or may not have a business idea and that’s fine. As long as you are open for feedback and to refine your problem statement along the way.

Program overview
Anyone with the right spike, drive and resources can change our world for the better. Antler will support you throughout the journey to lower the risks and increase the chances of success.
The programme consists of two phases:
1. An exciting 9 weeks full of activities that will prepare you for the pitch to the Investment Committee. The activities include hackathons, keynote panels, team challenges, expert-led workshops and more.
2. During this phase, you will focus on building and launching your venture. You will be free to reach your MVP or take advantage of the support provided by Antler, such as Global Advisor Network. It culminates with Demo Day, a unique opportunity to present your idea in front of London’s top investors, accelerators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
The Antler programme includes the following stages:
- Program kick-off
When joining the Antler program, you spend the first couple of weeks in rotation over a series of activities designed to help evaluate skill sets, cultural fit and working styles in fast-paced, high-pressure situations, so that you better understand who the ideal co-founders are for you.
- Team and idea validation (2 months)
Following the program kick-off, you focus on team and idea validation. In this period we all work together rigorously to identify the right team-fit and the right business model fit to set you up for success.
To enable everyone to focus full-time on building their next business, all participants are given a monthly grant during this period. All participants work from our offices during this time.
- Company building (3 months)
The best business ideas receive an Antler investment and further support, in exchange for a small equity stake.
At this stage, the companies start scaling their concepts – the focus is on proving the potential and the viability of the idea. All companies have access to office space through Antler during this time.
- Demo Day
At the end of the five-month program, companies have the opportunity to pitch their businesses to a select group of investors through our Demo Day.
All the portfolio companies continue to receive advice and support through network introductions after the program ends.

In Amsterdam, there is a wealth of tech creativity and a very exciting tech startup space producing globally renowned companies such as Booking.com and Adyen, as well as high-growth startups like HIber, Tiquets and Framer.
