Eligibility: non-profit or charitable purpose projects
Do you have an idea for a project that focuses on reducing climate-induced risks or natural hazards? If your proposal is ready for implementation, scalable, equitable, and sustainable, this might just be the right opportunity for you to get the funding you need.
Munich Re Foundation and UNDRR have launched the RISK Award to promote disaster risk reduction (DRR) projects that address the vulnerability of children and youths—one of the most at-risk groups globally.
2025 RISK Award
The award provides up to €100,000 in funding to support innovative disaster risk reduction initiatives that empower children and youths as agents of change. If you work in disaster risk reduction with or for children and youths, this is your opportunity to contribute to a safer, more resilient world.
“Children and Youths as Agents of Change for DRR”
This year’s theme empowers young people to actively participate in DRR efforts. Although disasters disproportionately affect children and youths, they play a pivotal role in creating safer communities by engaging in education, advocacy, and DRR planning. Your project should involve or support children and young people in developing or emerging countries.
Eligibility for the 2025 RISK Award
To apply for the Award, ensure your project meets the following criteria:
- Happens in developing or emerging countries (Global South). High-income countries are ineligible.
- Is submitted by NGO, NPO, or a research institution. Individuals and for-profit entities are not eligible.
- Addresses disaster risk reduction (DRR) related to climate hazards, with a strong implementation component.
- The budget ranges from €50,000 to €100,000. The overall project budget must not exceed €1,000,000.
- The project lasts between 12 months and 2 years.
