Eligibility: 
Juniors – ages 10-14; Youth – ages 15-19; and Young Adult – ages 20-24
Dates: November 18, 2015 until January 16, 2016

UNESCO, the U.N. organization that brings grass roots initiatives in Education, Science, and Culture, invites youth around the world to take part in this year’s Multimedia Competition. The natural optimism and unparalleled connectivity put youth one of the greatest positions to bring much needed change to the world. UNESCO’s mission is to mobilize youth to purposefully use their talents to serve others now, ensuring even greater impact on the future to come.

UNESCO’s aim is “to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information”. Other priorities of the Organization include attaining quality education for all and lifelong learning, addressing emerging social and ethical challenges, fostering cultural diversity, a culture of peace and building inclusive knowledge societies through information and communication.

Product:  A 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, 500-700 written essay, art work or any method that channels a specific passion that answers the prompt

Choose one of the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (Poverty, Hunger and Food Security, Health, Education, Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, Water and Sanitation, Energy, Economic Growth, Infrastructure and  Industrialization, Inequality , Cities, Sustainable Consumption and production, Climate Change, Oceans, Biodiversity and Forest and Desertification, Peace and Justice, Partnerships) and develop your solution to accomplish this aim.

Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, the private sector, civil society and people like you.
