👩‍🎓 12 student competitions to launch your career in 2022
1. Zurich Enterprise Challenge
Deadline: June 26 | Apply here
Eligiblity: the Challenge is open to Master, MBA and PhD students (full or part-time) from any university worldwide. Participants should have an interest in management, finance, strategy and risk management or similar subjects.
Prizes: Cash prize of CHF 5’000 for the winning team
Cash prize of CHF 2’000 for the runner-up team
The Zurich Enterprise Challenge gives you an opportunity of a lifetime to work with one of the world’s top insurance companies and interact with its corporate customers to solve real-life strategy and business challenges.
2. Data Mining Cup
Deadline: June 28 | Apply here
Eligibility: all team members must be registered as students at the educational institution where they start the team at the time of the competition
Prizes: 2,000 Euro for the winning team (or winner), 1,000 Euro for the second team and 500 Euro for the third team
Use your knowledge to solve authentic tasks of a genuine company. Get a feel for the kind of tasks you will be faced within your career. See if you are fit to find a good solution. Be invited to present your solution in July in line with the DMC online award ceremony – if you are among the ten best teams.
3. Shark Tank of Wellness Global Student Competition
Deadline: June 30 | Apply here
Eligibility: the participant(s) must be either a full-time or part-time student at the university or college
Prizes: cash prizes totaling US$10,000
Three finalists will be flown, along with their professors, to the annual Global Wellness Summit (GWS) being held October 31-November 3, 2022, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
There, they will pitch their business idea to the attending Summit delegates—a “who’s who” in the global wellness world.
4. RISE Student Competition
Deadline: July 1 | Apply here
Eligibility: the competition is open to all final year undergrad and master’s students attending any UK university
Prizes: 1st Prize: Your choice of MacBook Air or Surface Book 3. Plus ÂŁ100 Amazon voucher; 2nd Prize: Your choice of iPad Air or Surface Laptop Go. Plus ÂŁ75 Amazon voucher; 3rd Prize: Apple Watch SE. Plus ÂŁ50 Amazon voucher.
All you need to do is register via the entry link, and then fill in an abstract and summary of your project. You may also include a single link to an online accessible video presentation e.g. YouTube link. The project theme needs to be related to the fields of hardware or embedded systems security.
5. James Dyson Award
Deadline: July 6 | Apply here
Eligibility: open to current and recent design engineering students
Prizes: prize pool amounts to GBP 70,000.
The James Dyson Award is an international design award that celebrates, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers.
6. CineSpace Short Film Competition
Deadline: July 15 | Apply here
Eligibility:Â filmmakers around the world
Prizes: Grand Prize: USD 10,000; second Prize: USD 5,000; third Prize: USD 3,000 and mor
CineSpace is a collaboration between NASA and Houston Cinema Arts Society (HCAS) that offers filmmakers around the world a chance to share their works inspired by, and using, actual NASA imagery through “CineSpace”, a short film competition. Winners are announced and screen along with all finalists at the annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival which is held in November.
7. APL Problem Solving Competition
Deadline: July 29 | Apply here
Eligibility: students at all levels of education, anywhere in the world
Prizes: cash prizes from a pool of $4,000 USD
Dyalog Ltd is pleased to host the APL Problem Solving Competition.
The challenge has two phases: phase I consists of ten simple problems that must all be solved. Phase II consists of more complex problem sets that do not all have to be solved.
8. Entrepreneurship Campus
Deadline: September 15 | Apply here
Eligibility: students at all levels of education, anywhere in the world
Prizes: virtual badges and ceritficates
The Entrepreneurship Campus empowers social entrepreneurs, especially young people, from around the world to create a culture for entrepreneurship, promote entrepreneurial education, and engage in a more peaceful world.
Participants are invited to submit their innovative ideas and projects with a societal impact, which champion and implement one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
9. Fetisov Journalism Awards
Deadline: October 1 | Apply here
Eligibility: professional journalists, i.e. representatives of the media, professional journalism organizations (unions/associations/societies) and freelance journalists
Prizes: the total prize fund is 520,000 CHF
The mission of Fetisov Journalism Awards is to promote universal human values such as honesty, justice, courage and nobility through the example of outstanding journalists from all over the world as their dedicated service and commitment contribute to changing the world for the better.
10. Traffic Control Device (TCD) Student Challenge
Deadline: October 1 | Apply here
Eligibility: open to individual students or teams of students from high school, junior college, student college or university (graduate or undergraduate) who have an interest in transportation and an understanding of traffic control devices
Prizes: contest participants will receive the opportunity to vet their designs in a public forum during the TRB Annual Meeting. Up to three winning submissions will receive additional recognition and be invited to the ATSSA Convention & Traffic Expo.
The Traffic Control Device (TCD) Student Challenge promotes innovation and stimulate ideas in the traffic control devices area with a goal to improve operations and safety.
11. Kick Start Google Coding Competition
Deadline: November 12 | Apply here
Eligibility: the contest is void in Crimea, North Korea, Quebec, the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic, and where prohibited by law
Prizes: you may be contacted by a Google recruiter and invited to apply for a position at Google after completion of the KS Contest
Ready to solve fun, challenging problems? Kick Start hosts online rounds throughout the year, giving participants the opportunity to test and grow their coding abilities while getting better acquainted with competitive programming.

12. gia Excellence in Student Design
Deadline: December 16 | Apply here
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate industrial design students enrolled in a degreegranting program at any university in North America or other countries may enter
Prizes: judges allocate $12,000 in cash prizes with an additional $3,000 donated to the winners’ schools
At The Inspired Home Show’s annual student competition display, the six winning student designers meet business leaders and news media.
Many past winners have been hired by IHA member companies, and home goods retailers; others have become entrepreneurs, educators and design managers for consumer products companies.
