Fundación MAPFRE Awards for Social Innovation
The Fundación MAPFRE Social Innovation Awards are back for their eighth edition, inviting passionate social innovators to showcase projects that can change lives.
Launched in 2017, the awards are back for their eighth edition. They invite passionate social innovators to showcase projects that can change lives.
The selection committee will choose 12 finalists (three per category and region) from all submissions. Each finalist will receive personalized mentoring and online coaching to refine their projects. Then, finalists will travel to Madrid for the Grand Final, where judges will select three winners (one per category) to receive €40,000 in funding, helping them drive their projects forward.

Project categories
The awards welcome projects that have the power to address genuine societal issues and replicate solutions across various contexts.
This year’s edition will spotlight innovations in three areas:
- Safe and sustainable mobility – Solutions that ensure safer, greener transportation for all.
- The silver economy – Innovations that enhance the quality of life for older adults, promoting inclusion and wellness.
- Improvements in health and digital technology (e-Health) – Projects leveraging digital tools to advance healthcare and accessibility.
These categories are open to social innovation projects developed across four regions: Brazil, the rest of Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
Eligibility criteria
If you’re an innovator with a promising project in any of the above areas, feel free to apply, however, to qualify, your project must:
- Be based in the region where you’ll submit your application.
- Have at least one team member dedicated full-time to the project.
- Be past the concept phase, with a prototype or pilot test ready.
- Have generated no more than €300,000 in revenue in 2023.
