Eligibility: Start-up companies, entrepreneurs and students or recent graduates based in Canada are eligible to apply.

One of Toronto’s leading pitch competitions is back! The Digital Media and Gaming Incubator at George Brown College is proud to present the IT’S A START Pitch Competition 2019.

Next April, ten startups will be selected to pitch their ideas in front of a live audience and judges at Digifest 2019.

All startups have the opportunity to pitch their business idea, convince the judges of its value, and impress the crowd in 5 minutes for the chance to win cash, space along with an opportunity to attend Beijing’s Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (OTEC).

 


Map the System Competition 2019

Deadline: January 28, 2019 00:00 (CET)
Eligibility: You can apply for Map the System as an individual or in a team of up to five people. At least one member of the team must be a current student at a partner institution (enrolled on a course of 6 months or longer), OR a recent graduate of a partner institution (having completed studies within 12 months of the date you register for the competition). Students may be at undergraduate, diploma, postgraduate or doctoral level.

Map the System is a global competition that challenges you to think differently about social and environmental change.

Tackling global challenges starts with understanding a problem and its wider context, rather than jumping straight into a business plan or an idea for a quick fix.

This competition asks you to select a social or environmental issue and to explore, probe, and research all the connecting elements and factors around it. We want you to present this issue back to us in a way that people can understand, share, and learn from.


KPMG Innovation and Collaboration Challenge 2019

Deadline: January 31, 2019 00:00 (CET)
Eligibility: KICC welcomes applications from the students currently enrolled in a full-time Undergraduate/Bachelors degree program with at least 1 year remaining of their studies, in teams of 4 with at least 1 male and 1 female on the team from the eligible country (please check out “Participating Countries“)

The KPMG Innovation and Collaboration Challenge (KICC) is your chance to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges. Embark on a journey of learning, explore new innovations and experience what it’s like to be a professional business consultant.

During KICC, you’ll work in teams of four to explore global issues, tackle big business briefs and have an opportunity to present your innovative ideas to business leaders.

And if that wasn’t enough, the most successful teams will join the grand final in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2019, where you’ll have the opportunity to work on a new client challenge and compete against the best of the best to become the global champions for 2019!


St. Gallen Essay Competition 2019

Eligibility: Enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate program (master level or higher) in any field of study at a regular university; born in 1989 or later

Compete for the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award and qualify for participation as a Leader of Tomorrow in the world’s premier opportunity for inter-generational debates, The St. Gallen Symposium.

All contributions will be evaluated equally according to a specific set of criteria by an independent jury composed of professors, corporate executives, and entrepreneurs.

Global Student Innovation Challenge 2019

Eligibility: This challenge is open to post-secondary education, undergraduates and postgraduates of any discipline. These include Universities, Polytechnics and Institutes of Technical Education students. Submissions are invited from all students at all stages of their academic studies.

The Global Student Innovation Challenge (gSIC) is an annual event held at each International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology (i-CREATe).

It provides a platform to encourage students from all over the world to compete in developing creative and innovative devices or solutions to improve the quality of living of the elderly and people with disability.

It showcases the talents and abilities of these students while providing an opportunity to work with clients and clinicians to develop these innovative ideas.

It also facilitates cooperation and networking among the students and gives them an opportunity to listen to speakers from across the world and region.


LiveWell Student App Challenge 2019

Deadline: May 1, 2019 00:00 (CEST)
Eligibility: The competition welcomes submissions from most countries around the globe. However, individuals or organizations may be disqualified if they are based in a nation, state, province, or territory where U.S. or local law prohibits participating in the competition or receiving a prize. This includes individuals, who are residents of, and organizations domiciled in Brazil, Quebec, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, North Korea, Mexico, Syria or any other country designated by the United States Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

LiveWell RERC is sponsoring its second app development competition for middle, high school, and college students as well as non-professional developers.

Three winning submissions will be selected to receive a cash award. Two submissions will also be selected at random for prizes, so you are encouraged to submit your project even if it is a simple app.

The LiveWell App Challenge is intended to promote awareness of the need for supporting and accessible technologies by fostering innovation through a fun, hands-on competition.

Applicants are encouraged to submit mobile applications that address a need from one of LiveWell’s target areas, but apps from any area will be accepted.

LiveWell is particularly interested in apps that can be used by people with disabilities and people who are ageing.
