Meaning Conference
Meaning is the annual gathering of people who believe business can and must be a force for positive change in our dynamic and volatile world.
This one-day event brings together an international guest list of speakers, panelists and workshop hosts to inspire you on your own journey to better business. A sit-down lunch provides an informal way to meet other participants who, like you, want to be part of the solution to the challenges of the dynamic and volatile world.
The conference themes include the future of work, post-growth economics, organization design, 21st-century leadership, empathy in business, universal basic income, and technology for good.
Meaning consists of fellow travelers on a journey to discover new ways of working, living and organizing that put humanity and planet above profit and growth.
This year’s guest director is the journalist and broadcaster Paul Mason. In collaboration with the Meaning team, he has curated a program of speakers, panelists, and guests who will inspire you with stories, empower you with self-belief, arm you with practicalities and blow your mind with ideas. They are the pioneers, bringing ideas from the edges, to create change at the heart.
Schedule
At Meaning, in between inspiring talks, there will be opportunities to reflect and digest what you’ve heard. Workshops and interactive sessions will run throughout the day. And our cafe will be open all day for connecting and collaborating with other Meaning participants.
There’ll be coffee and top quality biscuits during the breaks. And for lunch, we’ll share a really lovely vegetarian meal.
The full running order, including workshop choices, will be available shortly before the big day.
Workshops
In addition to the main speaker program for Meaning 2016, there will be smaller, more intimate sessions, running throughout the day. These will provide an opportunity to explore some of Meaning’s key themes in an interactive way.
These sessions will each have a limited number of places available and will be first-come-first-served on the day. But don’t worry, with more options coming soon there’ll be plenty to choose from.
Sustainability at Meaning
The conference is believed to have a positive impact in the world – bringing people together to deal with the things that really matter.
But it is also known that events like this have the potential to bring a negative impact on resources, waste and energy consumption. That’s why Meaning is working with Brighton consultancy Creative Bloom to make smarter decisions about the sustainability of Meaning.
About Meaning
The conference connects and inspires a community of people who believe in better business. It happens every November in Brighton, UK.
The event was founded in 2012 as an annual gathering point for forward-thinking people who aren’t satisfied with the status quo. Since then Meaning has continued to grow in size and momentum. So this year it got more space and an even greater variety of speakers, sessions, and opportunities to connect.
Venue
The venue sets the scene perfectly: the historic Dome & Corn Exchange in the forward-looking city of Brighton. And the organizers believe the best ideas should be discussed over a good meal, so at Meaning, a hearty lunch of wonderful food is shared.
