Eligibility: scholars affiliated with European higher education and research institutions
Does your research challenge existing approaches and proposes fresh solutions to real-world social issues? Are you looking for awards that fund researchers that traditional funding bodies would otherwise overlook?
Flexible Grants for Small Groups
The Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) invites applications from Europe-based scholars and offers up to €8,500 for applicants outside the UK and £7,100 for those within the UK.
The ISRF seeks projects that push disciplinary boundaries within the social sciences and interdisciplinary fields, exploring under-researched topics through novel theoretical or methodological approaches.
Projects must begin by the end of December 2025 and span up to one year. This period should include collaborative, in-person work through workshops, paired studies, or short academic visits, fostering interactive research among team members.
Eligibility Criteria
Grants welcome applications from scholars who will lead a 2-10-member group of scholars. Principal Investigator should hold a PhD and in most cases a permanent academic appointment. Scholars need to be affiliated with European higher education and research institutions.
Proposal Requirements
Applications should include a detailed research proposal with a concise 300-word abstract summarizing the project’s aims, methods, and contribution. Each proposal should:
- Define the core question or problem.
- Contextualize with current research references and limitations.
- Present unique hypotheses that challenge conventional perspectives.
- Describe the interdisciplinary approach, including key methods.
- Have a clear timeline for activities.
- Highlight potential contributions and dissemination plans.
- Address ethical considerations and data accessibility if applicable.
