Over the past 8 years, our team at AlphaGamma has been dedicated to informing and inspiring millions of young professionals and entrepreneurs worldwide.
While we’ve focused on helping others discover opportunities, we’ve rarely shared our own story. In this AlphaGamma manifesto, you’ll learn more about who we are, what we do, and where we’re headed.
Our journey so far
We started AlphaGamma with a simple yet important mission: to bridge the information gap for young professionals by providing access to career, business, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Since our founding in 2016, we’ve grown into a platform that reaches more than 4.5M readers worldwide, with over 500 industry experts and influencers sharing their insights on our website.
Along the way, we’ve partnered with renowned organizations like Vodafone, Deutsche Bank, Bertelsmann, IE Business School, Rice University, and The European Commission to help them connect with top entrepreneurial talent.
But even as we grew, we never aimed to become a recruitment agency. Rather, we wanted to become a media company that talks about what our generation cares about – business opportunities, career growth, and a roadmap to success.
What we do
At AlphaGamma, we provide our audience with tips, resources, and insights across key areas, including entrepreneurship, finance, investments, and careers.
One of our flagship offerings is our curated weekly newsletter, which highlights upcoming deadlines for a wide range of opportunities, from study-abroad programs to startup accelerators.
We’ve also built our own mobile app, Opportunity Feed, which features career and personal development opportunities related to topics other than entrepreneurship and finance.
In general, opportunities come in various shapes and sizes. There are study-abroad programs, online programs, scholarships, fellowships, conferences, symposiums, local events, hackathons, seminars, webinars, startup events, pitch competitions, business plan competitions, case challenges, grants, accelerator programs, among others.
Sometimes we feature graduate programs, internships, and actual jobs, however, we see that companies that are serious about finding the right talent do it through these broader opportunities. From both job seekers and employers perspectives, job boards are not that effective. Sometimes companies use it to show the world as if they are growing without the intention of hiring anyone. It’s more of branding than actual recruitment.
What we’ve come to realize over time is that our mission has become a social one: alleviating information asymmetry.
By showcasing opportunities that are unobvious to others, we enable individuals – regardless of their location and socio-economic background – to unlock their potential and eventually improve their lives
Why we do what we do
My brother Eric and I founded AlphaGamma because we started our own careers thanks to such opportunities. We understand the value of seizing opportunities because our careers were shaped by them.
We are originally from Riga, Latvia, but we travelled the world thanks to competitions, I moved to study in the Netherlands, Eric moved to study in Germany. Eventually we founded AlphaGamma in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in business and finance by securing study grants and scholarships, while Eric successfully participated in international Olympiads related to IT and mathematics, which led to both of his degrees in computer science.
Both of us always felt that there’s more to life than what we are being offered, so we started looking for opportunities to improve our lives outside of our immediate circle of friends, high school, extracurricular activities.
Essentially, the spirit that drove us to seek out and create these opportunities is what drives AlphaGamma today. Yet, there is still so much potential to positively impact billions of people worldwide, and we feel that we are just scratching the surface for now.
Examples of opportunities
Oftentimes, whenever we promote opportunities, those who were not familiar with our work would tell us in disbelief that ‘they didn’t know such opportunities are even possible.’ Some said that they are too good to be true.
Over the years, we’ve discovered and featured some incredible opportunities. For example:
- you could build your own venture in Okinawa, Japan, and get a $150K cash grant to do this while living in one of the most scenic parts of the world.
- you could apply for a fully-funded conference in the poshest part of Egypt, where all selected participants get their tickets, accommodation, and meals covered while they attend the program, network with international participants.
- you could participate in a startup program in Amsterdam that pays an allowance for 6 months so you could take a break from work, try out building a startup, and even transition into full-time entrepreneurship.
- you could participate in a global show about ecopreneurs and display your innovative solution to 100M viewers, win $50,000 and a 12-month mentorship to grow your venture further.
And these are just some of the hundreds of examples. The best part – these opportunities are all paid for. However, you need to have a strong application to be selected. In a way, we are expanding the definition of an ‘opportunity’.
The road ahead
Money-making IS a noble pursuit after all, because just being resourceful only gets you this far.
One of the reasons why we’ve always focused on fully-funded opportunities is because, like many of our readers, we had modest beginnings. When finances were tight, we found ways to access education, travel, and career opportunities through resourcefulness and creativity.
But there’s another side to this journey: financial independence.
We believe that once you have financial freedom, you can create your own opportunities – study where you want, travel as you wish, and meet the people who inspire you.
This is why we’ve recently expanded our offerings to include AG Insights, a subscription product that provides 2 researched investment opportunities every month.
We want to help our readers become better an investing, more confident with personal finance, and become financially literate. Anyone can try it out for free for 30 days.
We use the same methodology for AG Insights as we do for identifying opportunities in our new investment fund, AGC Wealth Management (we are currently raising funds, btw) – a venture designed to support AlphaGamma’s growth and long-term sustainability.
Our vision
We want to be a world-class trusted advisor on business, entrepreneurship, investments, and inspire our community of readers to pursue the life of freedom, growth, and joy.
Speaking about the fund, one of the reasons we are setting it up is to fuel our growth as a media company and become a truly self-sufficient, sustainable media company. We are looking for investors who share our excitement for our vision.
Join us on this journey
As we move forward, we invite you to join us.
Whether you’re a young professional seeking your next big opportunity or an investor looking to fuel the growth of a media company with a social mission, our team is excited about what lies ahead!
