After huge success in previous years, Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) calls for application for its eighth edition.

The MOPGA 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program aims to enhance scientific contributions to climate change challenges highlighted by the COPs. If you are looking to conduct your research in France, this is the one to apply to.

MOPGA 2025: Visiting Fellowship Program

This program is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry for Higher Education and Research, and is implemented by Campus France.

The fellowship lasts for 12 months starting in September 2025. The benefits of becoming a fellow include:

  • Monthly allowance of €2,500
  • Moving allowance of €500
  • Health insurance coverage, including civil liability and repatriation assistance
  • A Hosting Agreement with the host institution outlining resources and support available for the research project.

Research Themes

Projects that take innovative approaches and promote advanced technologies will be prioritized. There are five broad themes accepted for the proposals:

  1. Earth systems
  2. Climate change and sustainability
  3. Energy transition
  4. Societal challenges of environmental issues
  5. Human, animal, and ecosystem health through a “One Health” approach

Eligibility criteria and documents needed

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Not hold a French citizenship
  • Hold a doctoral degree obtained within the last five years (thesis defense passed between December 2019 and December 2024).
  • Not have resided in France for more than 90 days between September 5, 2024, and December 5, 2024.

To apply, candidates need to submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of publications (max 4 pages)
  • PhD diploma or certificate
  • CV of the research supervisor at the French host institution (max 2 pages)
  • Letter of support from the French host institution
  • Up to three letters of recommendation
  • Passport or proof of ID
