UN Young Professionals Programme 2024
The YPP is an annual recruitment initiative to attract young, motivated professionals to start their careers within the United Nations.
The process includes an entrance examination held in various subject areas, tailored to meet the specific needs of the UN. Successful candidates are placed on a roster to be selected for roles within the UN Secretariat.
The 2024 YPP examination will focus on the following areas:
- Human Resources & Administration
- Political Affairs & Human Rights
- Finance & Budget
Eligibility criteria
Before applying, make sure you meet the following criteria:
- You are 32 years old or younger in the year of the examination. For the 2024 YPP, this means you must have been born on or after January 1, 1992.
- You hold at least a first-level university degree (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) relevant to the examination subject area.
- Are fluent in either English or French.
- You are a national of one of the participating countries. The list of participating countries varies each year, and in 2024, it includes:
Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahrain, Belize, Brunei Darussalam, China, Cuba, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Germany, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Libya, Liechtenstein, Malta, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Monaco, Nauru, Oman, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Sudan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Vanuatu.
