Eligibility: full-time undergraduate students from AUN Core Member Universities
Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Join the ASEAN-Japan Youth Forum 2024, an exchange program dedicated to its mission: “Envisioning a peaceful and better world in 2050”.
It provides a platform for exchanging ideas and devising practical solutions for social challenges while focusing on this year’s theme “Good Health and Well-being”.
ASEAN-Japan Youth Forum 2024
The Japan Foundation and the ASEAN University Network are hosting this program to enhance understanding between young people in ASEAN countries and Japan.
As a part of the “WA Project 2.0: Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation,” this initiative aims to foster exchanges and develop human resources.
The program will have the following schedule:
- Online Orientation and Seminar
Date: November 16, 2024
Activities: Program schedule explanation, ice-breaking, team building - ASEAN Field Trip
Dates: December 3-8, 2024
Location: Jakarta, and a regional city in Indonesia
Activities: Site visits, and dialogues with practitioners; deepening of bonds among participants through dialogues and planned activities - Online Seminar
Date: December 15, 2024
Activity: ASEAN Field Trip reflections, Interim presentation of action plans - Japan Field Trip
Dates: February 9-15, 2025
Location: Tokyo, and a regional city in Japan
Activities: Development and presentation of action plans based on lessons learned through site visits and conversations with practitioners
Regarding financial support, the organizers will cover most of your expenses, including international travel expenses, meals and accommodation, and related transportation fees during the program in Indonesia and Japan).

Eligibility requirements
If you’re willing to apply, you must fulfill all the requirements listed below:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student from AUN Core Member Universities
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of ASEAN countries, where the university is located
- Must not have lived abroad for more than one year after the age of 12
- Must not plan to leave their country for study, internship, employment, etc. during the program
- Be physically and mentally healthy
- Able to participate in the full duration of the program
- Be proficient in English
Moreover, you need to be interested, or already taking action in solving global and national social issues, and cross-cultural understanding.
Required application documents
When filling out the application form, make sure you have the following documents ready:
- Essay – questions available, here
- A letter of recommendation from a professor or advising teacher at your university
- English Proficiency Test Result/Certificate (if available)
- Signed Consent on Handling of Personal Information
