This virtual program will equip you with the necessary skills, experience, and resources to transform your communities.
Dates, details, and program elements
During the time period from August 8 to November 19, the Fellowship will be brimming with virtual workshops, events, and weekly expert-led modules.
Program elements will consist of:
Venture Acceleration & Leadership Training – practical, entrepreneurial workshops with leadership at its core will include:
- Team Management for Impactful Organizations
- Data & Metrics
- Marketing & Personal Branding
- Impact Focused Sales
Community & Network Building – a chance to form partnerships, collaborations, and further your growth via:
- Engagement with Watson Institue alumni,
- Self-organized Fellow meet-ups,
- Basecamp training and events
Mentorship & Collaboration – opportunities to learn form business leaders, venture capitalists, and enterprise executives through:
- Preceptor Advisory Board,
- Impact Speaker Series,
- Mentor Bonanza
Selected Western Union Foundation Fellows have a chance at a share of a $36,000 stipend that will be distributed among Fellows based on their progress and impact throughout the Fellowship.

Once a Fellow you will have an opportunity to join a high-profile, celebratory event on November 19th, 2024. It is a perfect chance to share your impact and pitch to local and global leaders.
Eligibility for the Western Union Foundation Fellowship
The Fellowship is looking for applicants who are seeking expert-led entrepreneurial training, access to funding, and a chance to grow their mentorship network. However, perfect candidates need to meet the following criteria:
- be an entrepreneur focusing on working with highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around the globe
- be able to fully commit to the 16-week program
- be located in and creating impact in the following locations: United States, Uganda, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, United Kingdom, Germany, Lithuania, Japan, Philippines, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Brazil
Ideal venture stages are Problem-Solution Fit or Product-Market Fit phases, with engaged customers or beneficiaries, and demonstrated outcomes in both impact and revenue. Moreover, preference is given to applicants from Uganda, Colombia, Mexico, Pakistan and the United States.
